These scholarships are to encourage progression to Honours level, or Postgraduate study. The UniSC Indigenous Scholarship was established in 2011 to support a new or continuing student wishing to pursue Postgraduate studies, an Honours undergraduate qualification or a Higher Degree by Research (HDR). The Dr. Joseph Medicine Crow Native Leadership Scholarship is named for USC alumnus Dr. Joseph Medicine Crow, the first member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation to earn a master’s degree. During World War II, he fought for the U.S. Army and in recognition of his heroic actions, subsequently became the tribe’s last war chief. The Undergraduate Scholarship Committee will evaluate each student’s overall application and determine awards based on criteria such as academic merit, extracurricular involvement, accomplishments and awards, academic and career goals, work experience, and/or financial need. Admission decisions or a request for more information, such as spring-term grades, will be posted by May 31. If spring grades are requested, a decision may not be available until mid-July.
