Now I've only been into Marlin's a couple years but I've bought and sold a few and looked at a few hundred. I haven't seen one yet that didn't have the stamp. If the gun was pre-remlin then wouldn't it have the JM stamp. With Marlin's reputation I would be shocked to find one that left the factory without the stamp of approval.
