Duramax ticking noise.

435 posts · Joined 2015. #1 · Feb 10, 2017. just noticed this noise the other day, it's obvious in drive but quiets down in park. checked my balance rates and they seem kind of all over the place, but 1 & 3 are the worst. The noise sounds like its from the passenger side so that makes me think those two are the culprit.The noise usually is most noticeable at the rear of the driver's side front wheel well. Customers may also comment about hearing a tick noise inside the vehicle at idle such as when sitting at a drive through window. I have a 2003 Duramax and I had that ticking problem when I bought it. I put in the diesel fuel supplement in the grey bottle according mixture on the bottles directions to raise cetane level and lube injector pump and injectors. in one treatment ticking was gone and real noticeable power improvement. worked real well!!

08 lmm. A few day ago I noticed a ticking noise coming from my engine but it's only when it's cold. Cant quit pin point where the noise is. When it warms up its gone. The only thing I've done to the truck is change the oil about a week ago. If anyone can helpe please chime in thanks.

Some people do find different brand oil seems to quieten the noise some but experimentation is key for some because not all oils act the same in all engines..

Alright I need help. I have got an 05 duramax with 165k miles. Had GM replace all injectors 14 months ago. However the motor has developed a loud knocking noise. When the noise first became present, I stopped at a truck stop and poured in some Lucas injector cleaner.
