As for farming from enemies, you should start farming once you're at least SL120 to reallocate into a good build. Get the Crystal Sage Rapier, the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring +3 from the DLC, 99 Luck, and a Symbol of Avarice. Then put the rest of your points into something that allows you to quickly dispatch of enemies.
